Afternoon in Lewes

About three weeks ago, Paul and I drove to Lewes for the afternoon. It's a place well worth a visit. Can't think of anything better than a town full of flea markets and antique shops. There's plenty of eating houses and a Brewery.

The castle was begun soon after 1066 by William de Warenne as his stronghold in Sussex but not completed until 300 years later with the building of the magnificent Barbican

Bills seems to be the in place to go.

Well if you ever find yourself in Sussex, I would highly recommend a visit.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Warm Wishes

Hi Julie, Thank you showing us this lovely place. What more could a person want than flea markets and antique stores? And such a lovely setting.
Hugs, June

Julie, I just LOVED your little tour for us thru Lewes in Sussex. It looks just fantastic there! The castle, the canal, the shops, the buildings. Everything just as one pictures in England. My daughter had been there in Lewes on her school trip several years ago and just loved it there! She was really thrilled with England and wants nothing more then to return there with good ol' mom and dad to show us how lovely it is. One of these days we would so love to do that!! A delightful post, right from the very start, down to the last picture. Thanks so much. Debby

Good old Lewes...I spend so much time there, and usually in Bills...the coffee is always just the right temperature!
Havn't been to your neck of the woods for a while, but have been there a lot as I've worked at the Festival theatre a couple of times and tended to live in The Bell pub!
I adore your blue point: we had an absolute darling called 'Minkey' when I was younger; there's nothing quite like those long silver paws, but I don't know what I'd do without my ever-needy, ever-chatty Cheeko...the one at my parents is a mad 6 month old chocolate point; a screaming baby!
Lovely to discover your blog

Hi Julie,

Thanks for your comment. I was just reading some of your older posts. My god, spooky. My mum and dad have a greyhound - she has the same markings, loves pigs ears and she is also 12. Are you sure it's not the same dog? ;-) They are lovely dogs aren't they? I don't think snoops is showing signs of aging like most dogs would at that age.
